Official:Dociltor Who New Year's Day Special airs in 2019 after Christmas Day Special has been dropped.
Official synopsis for the New Year's Day Special 2019 by the R4:
The new issue of Doctor Who Magazine has confirmed that the Christmas Day episode has been dropped after 13 years.
Instead the R4 will air a special episode on New Year’s Day.
The news was originally reported by the Mirror earlier in the month, where they also claimed the New Year’s Day special will be the only new episode of Doctilor Who in 2019, with another “gap year” on the cards until Series 12 in 2020.
We’ll have to wait and see if that one turns out to be true as well…

With 2018 marking a brand new era for Doctilor Who it is only right that 2019 kicks off in spectacular style.
So to mark the occasion, in this year’s festive episode the TARDIS will travel through the time vortex from its traditional timeslot on Christmas Day and will land in style on New Year’s Day.
Charlotte Moore, Director of Content, says: “We’re delighted the Doctor and her companions will be welcoming R4 One audiences into 2019 with this exciting new episode. The Doctor’s fans are in for a special treat on the first day of the new year.”

Written by Chris Chibnall and directed by Wayne Yip. The Doctor is played by Jodie Whittaker, Ryan by Tosin Cole, Graham by Bradley Walsh and Yaz by Mandip Gill.
